Barry Jenkins, OBE, Chair
Barry Jenkins has had a long and distinguished career in the UK film exhibition industry. He became Group Managing Director for Cannon Cinemas. During the period June 1991 until February 2001 he held different senior board positions with MGM Cinemas. He led the buy out of ninety cinemas from the Virgin Group and helped to amalgamate ABC Cinemas with Odeon. Barry was deputy chairman of Odeon between 2000 and 2001.
In addition to being the chair of Film Education, Barry holds a number of other positions on major industry groups including Chairman of All Industry marketing for Cinema (AIM) and a Trustee of the Cinema and Television Benevolent Fund (CTBF). In June 2007 he was awarded the OBE for his services to the Cinema industry.
Mark Batey
After five years as an account handler at Saatchi & Saatchi, Mark moved to marketing consultancy to develop promotional partner campaigns for UK film distributors.
He co-ordinated the successor project with Barclays Bank before joining the British Film Institute as Head of Marketing Services.
In 2001, Mark was recruited to his current post as Chief Executive of Film Distributors' Association. FDA's membership has grown to account for 96% of UK cinema going.
Joe Simpson
Joe Simpson is the Founder and Managing Director of Delanic Films Limited, an independent distributor operating in the UK & Ireland and Delanic Consultancy, a film-sector specialist advisory firm.
Films released by Delanic include 'Swing Vote', 'Lovewrecked' and 'Dangerous Parking'. Clients of Delanic Consultancy have included the UK Film Distributors' Association and many US studios.
He has recently been European Vice-President of Strategic Marketing for MGM.
Jean Young
Jean Young has worked in many sectors of the television and film industries starting in 1972 with the British Film Institute.
She was responsible for regulating ITV's regional licensees for the Independent Television Commission and Ofcom. She was Senior Commissioning Editor for BBC subscription television and Director of Acquisitions for the BT/Maxwell pay television channels.
Among posts held she was a BFI Governor and board member of Screen South and the Grierson Trust.
Ian Wall, Founder & Managing Director
Before founding Film Education in 1985, Ian taught English & Media at Holland Park comprehensive where he was a head of department. Over the last 23 years he has worked on a wide range of projects, including educational resources on hundreds of feature films. Ian is the winner of two BAFTAs and speaks on issues relating to education, media literacy and film all over the world.
James Wildbore
James Wildbore is currently Vice-President of Finance at Universal Pictures International.
James joined Universal three years ago to help set-up Universal's theatrical distribution business in the UK that replaced United International Pictures. James spent two and half years as Finance Director of the newly established business and put in place the key processes and controls that supported the day-to-day business.
In November 2008, James was promoted to a Head Office Finance role to oversee the operations and processes across the International business.
