Phone Call develops students' understanding of film language by exploring editing and building narrative through the creation of one scene. Working with a selection of rushes of a simple narrative shot in a number of different ways, students are tasked with cutting a sequence together which fulfills a certain brief- an actor receiving a phone call. Students are encouraged to explore not only the effects of the visual but also how sound and pacing can affect the message.
Red Shoes develops students' understanding of film language by exploring concepts of narrative and genre through looking at the concept of parallel editing. Working with a selection of rushes of a simple narrative shot in a number of different ways, students are tasked with cutting a sequence together which fulfills a certain brief- building tension for example. Students are encouraged to explore not only the effects of the visual but also how sound and pacing can affect the message.
