Film and Citizenship
Film and Citizenship: empowering and engaging students
Film Education has registered a growing interest amongst teachers of Citizenship who recognise the potential of film to motivate and empower young people to address political issues affecting their lives. The accessibility of film can improve engagement with issues that are difficult to address in the abstract, and teaching with feature film can help develop students' sensibilities as global citizens as well as encouraging independent, critical thinking.
Our twilight training session on Film and Citizenship offers effective approaches to incorporating film within subject teaching and provides practical experience with using existing Film Education resources.
Subject/level: KS 3/4 Citizenship
Venue: Film Education, 91 Berwick Street, London W1F 0BP
Dates: 6th May 2010 4.30–6.30 pm

The session will explore:
- the benefits and challenges of using film to teach Citizenship concepts
