Event Information
Film Education held several screenings of Private Peaceful as part of Film Week 2012 to coincide with both with the release of the film and our educational resource. These screenings included a special preview screening in Central London with author Michael Morpurgo and two of the film’s actors; George McKay and Alexandra Roach. 800 teachers and students attended the screening at the Odeon Leicester Square and a class from Orchards Middle School in Worthing also had the opportunity to stay for a special talkback session with Michael Morpurgo after the main Q&A.
Date: 4 October 2012
Venue: Odeon Leicester Square
Private Peaceful [12A, 104]
Based on Michael Morpurgo's classic rites of passage story of two brothers and the exuberance and pain of their teenage love for the same girl, the pressures of their feudal family life, the horrors and folly of war and the ultimate price of courage and cowardice. It is a gritty and realistic tale of love and death set in the fields of Devon and the WW1 battlefields of Flanders, giving us a heartbreaking glimpse of the way we once lived – and still die.
