Use of sound in the film - Activity 1
The music for the film (or the film's 'score') was specially written by the composer George Fenton.
Listen to one of the tracks from the film score on the Earth website - go to About / Earth Music, and press play for Track One.
- What do you imagine as you listen to the music? What sort of mood do you think the music creates? How does it make you feel?
- What sounds can you hear in the music? Can you recognise any instruments?
Task:
Listen to the music once more. You might want to shut your eyes to focus on the sounds. Now try to create a picture inspired by the music: think carefully about how to show the sounds you heard, and the way you felt, as you listened. What colours or materials might you use?
