Characterisation

In the novel, John Boyne's characters are carefully constructed within the narrative: the author has made decisions about their ages, their social class and their opinions. In the film version you can see the director's interpretation of those characters.

When you open the interactive task, you will see a wordbank on the left hand side, an image in the middle and characters' names on the right. Click on a character's name and an image from the film will appear in the middle of the screen. You can then drag and drop words from the left onto and around the image to describe that character. You will find that the words stay where you put them to help you make comparisons between characters.
