Character

In this new version of Sherlock Holmes, familiar characters are shown in a new light in order to make them appealing to a modern audience. To give potential viewers a sense of each character a series of film posters have been created for this release.

These posters are a form of advertising showing the film's key features to its potential audience. Whether displayed in a cinema, on public transport or a roadside billboard these posters are designed to generate interest and to catch your eye. They also form a unified ‘campaign’: each one features a different character and a different tagline but they are clearly linked in a number of ways.

What can you deduce about each character through studying the posters alone?
