The Princess and the Frog takes the traditional fairy story and gives it a whole new twist by setting it in New Orleans.

In the film, Prince Naveen visits the city from his country of Maldonia. Young and excitable, he needs a guidebook to help him make the most of his visit. That's where you come in. Design and create a Princess and the Frog style guide to New Orleans for Prince Naveen, using these ten facts to help you:

  1. New Orleans is the largest city in Louisiana based in the American South, and it straddles the Mississippi River.
  2. New Orleans was founded in 1718 and named after Phillippe II, Duke of Orleans, who was Regent of France at the time.
  3. New Orleans is usually hot and humid, with short mild winters.
  4. There are many places for tourists to visit, including the world famous French Quarter and Bourbon Street, renowned for its jazz nightclubs.
  5. New Orleans can be toured by steamboats that cruise the Mississippi.
  6. The city's cemeteries and tombs are attractions in themselves, the most famous being the Saint Louis Cemetery.
  7. New Orleans is home to many carnivals, the most popular of which is the Mardi Gras. Mardi Gras is French for 'fat Tuesday'! Traditionally, it was held on the last Tuesday before Lent – when some people choose to hold back on certain foods like chocolate and cake.
  8. New Orleans is famous for jazz music. The famous trumpet playing jazz musician, Louis Armstrong is from New Orleans.
  9. Louisiana is famous for its unique 'Creole' food. Specialties are 'beignets' which are like square-shaped donuts.
  10. – which are marshy areas of water. In The Princess and the Frog, the Princess finds some friends in the bayous.
