Henry V

[cert 15, 137 mins]

Branagh stars and directs this stirring adaptation of
Shakespeare's tale of war. The still young king of
England, intending to tax the English church, is sent
off to war by the bishops to enforce his claim to
France. After the Battle of Agincourt, the French King
has to yield his daughter as a peace offering. In a
bitterly satirical vein, this political marriage is then
portrayed as a happy ending.
